Eat and Drink

Enjoy a coffee and sandwich at The Mill, have a delicious sandwich at Shipwreck Cafe. Check out Mawby Winery, Iron Fish Distillery or Stormcloud Brewery for an alcoholic drink. If you’re looking for a plate full of delicious breakfast food try The Lighthouse Cafe or similarly Birch and Maple if you like a boozy brunch.

Play in the Water

There are countless amazing beaches in Michigan. For a more remote location with swimming and lounging try the beach on Esch Rd . For quick access to Water sports equipment try Empire Beach near Sleeping Bear Surf Shop. For a touch of history as well as great walking and swimming try Glen Haven Beach. If you’d like a mix of shopping, beach and a bite to eat the Beach at Frankfort is your spot.

For surfing we recommend our friends over at Sleeping Bear Surf Shop. For an active paddle, rent a canoe or raft at The Livery Barn and go Kayaking on The Platt River. For a chill, short distance paddle, try the Kayak Shop in Glen Arbor and paddle out on The Crystal River.

Explore Nature

Northern Michigan is known for its lush and gorgeous nature. Bring your own mountain bikes and try a trail in Palmer Woods or Arcadia.Enjoy a lively hike at Sleeping Bear Dunes, Treat Farm, Pyramid Point and Sleeping Bear Point. Trek the Big Dune Climb at Sleeping Bear Dunes.

Shop

Leaf through books at The Cottage Book Shop, stop in Empire’s many cute shops such as The Miser’s Hoard. Take the drive into Traverse City to check out Fustinis Olive Oils, Brilliant Books or many of the nice shops they have around. Look for little treasures in Benzonia at Jerry’s Resale or Echo Resale in Manistee.
